A Space for Quiet Reflection

I so very much love the holidays! I love the lights, the music (yep…I’m already listening to my favorite Christmas Classic station on Amazon Music), the cards, the tree, the baking, the family time.

Yes, it can be stressful.

Yes, it can be consumer-driven.

I get it!

But these past few years, I’ve chosen something else; it’s called acceptance and presence (not to be confused with presents)!

I have been working to accept myself as I am, right now; and I have given up (mostly!) keeping up with the Joneses.

Sometimes it’s really hard. I have very glamourous friends who live in New York, world travelers they are, always impeccably dressed with gorgeous kids and tons of friends. And what about that other friend from high school who has a six-figure job and travels the world? And that other friend who…you see how easy that is? To get caught up in it all?

To compare?

To feel crummy?

To lose our presence?

It pulls and tugs at my heart!

But today, my choice is quiet reflection, coupled with gratitude.

Gratitude is a biggie! It’s critical! It’s the link that pulls us out of the comparison and into the acceptance.

I’m not 100% where I wish to be. I’m not 100% anything. I’m just me. And that is enough!

Do you feel that you are enough? Because you are! We both are. Right now! Right where we are, we are enough.

For 2020, I do have goals that I am working towards. I am ready for change in certain parts of my life. And those are good things. Goals are good. Looking ahead is good! Change is really, really good!

But what is not good, and what needs to be tossed, is comparison. You will never be that person you are following on Facebook or Instagram…ever.

And you know what? That is okay. It’s better than okay! It’s great and marvelous and absolutely wonderful!

You are uniquely, you…and how wonderful that is!

So during this holiday season, as I make space for quiet reflection, I am grateful for so many of the things that are unique to me.

I hope you do the same! I hope you take the time to reflect and to find gratitude!

I hope you have a wonderful, peaceful, and safe holiday season!

Stretch into your space with gratitude, and love who you are, right now!

I’m taking a bit of a blog-writing-break, so I’ll see you back here in January of 2020.

Happy Holidays! And peace!
