Yoga, a Space of Refuge

Walking in through the front door, your mind immediately slows, and the hustle and bustle of the day is shut out. Once the door closes, you’re left with a calm that prepares you for the yoga session you’re about to participate in.

I love yoga, especially in my studio. It was the place where I first practiced, and it is the place to which I have returned after a long absence.

This one room yoga studio is a refuge from my busy technical writing and raising my kid, life.

Just breathe as you move. Listen to your body. And be present.

The studio’s bright lime-green door invites you into the dulling red brick building at the corner of the intersection in the heart of the town. That color informs you something special takes place inside; a place of healing, breathing, and strengthening; a place where your mind slows and your body moves with your rhythmic breathing.

Deliberate. Gentle. Fierce.

There are many yoga studios to choose from these days. But this place, with the lime green door, is the one I choose.
