A Space to Be as We Are

How are you doing?

I hope you are well, dear friends. This time…in some ways, is beyond comprehension.

And it has led me to an aversion to “should” or “should not”.

How should you be feeling?

How shouldn’t you be feeling?

What?

Something dawned on me this week as I sat in prayer and meditation: we have a right to feel exactly what we are feeling.

Exactly. Right now.

My anger and anxiety swirls in my belly. I can feel it like a rock. Hard. Unyielding.

Where do you feel yours?

This week, I have hosted so many emotions: anger, anxiety, love, compassion, yielding, joy, laughter, sadness, tears…and on it goes.

But it dawned on me that every single one of these emotions of mine are valuable.

They are valuable and okay.

They are mine.

So, this goes without saying: it is okay to feel what you are feeling right now.

In your space, feel it, sit with it, investigate it.

Honor it.

And then…let it go, like a cloud moving gently across the sky, to make way for the next feeling.

This is how we progress. This is how we move through such horror. This is how we protect that kernel of peace that lives within us.

I’m sending you all so much love. I hope that kernel of peace finds its way into your heart.

And if you’re not ready, that is okay, too. I’m already holding one in thought for you.

Love, Shelly
