A Space for Quiet Reflection During the Holiday Season

We are in the thick of it now! Christmas, Hanukkah, and all other celebrations are in full vigor! I love this time of year. Despite the buying and bustle of it all, I truly love what this time of the year means.

It’s why we feel that snow on Christmas is magical.

It’s why we love to sing Christmas carols.

It’s why we love to sit and listen to Christmas music while watching the blinking lights on our trees.

Or, maybe it’s just me. But I don’t think so…

Our hearts long for Santa and all the good that he stands for. I think just knowing that our collective psyche cheers on a man whose entire purpose is to give, brings so much hope and inspiration.

Every year at this time I re-read A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. What a writer! Pondering his words, I snuggle deeper under the covers as I’m transported back to 19th century London. I shiver with his descriptions of the freezing air meandering through keyholes and seeping through windows. I cheer on old Marley, as he shakes and moans his way into Scrooge’s psyche. I roar with laughter as the ghost of Christmas Present shakes his belly and reminds us all of why Christmas is such a lovely, holy day. Mr. Dickens, your little ghost of a story packs a wallop and I love you for it!

May god bless us, everyone.

Yes, truly! I hope you feel blessed, however you celebrate the season.

I hope you find magic around each corner.

And I hope you sing a Christmas song in your heart.

Sappy? Yes…but, I think this world could use a bit of sap and love and kindness right about now.

This is my final post for 2017.  I’ll start it up again in January.

But for now, I hope you carve out a space of empowered silence and reflection.

Peace and love to you all.
