climate change earth poem sacred

A Space for Earth

Climate change is happening, now. It’s not some far-away event that we are trying to stop. No, it is here. Now.

Right now.

Only one question remains: How bad will it get?

We still have time to stop the worst of it. Not much, but the window is there.

Stop looking for those in power to do something. They won’t. They have other priorities. But you have the power to do something. You.

You.

What a hopeful thought!

You can do something in your own life, in your own community. Just imagine if all of us, together, 7 billion strong, did something right now to help the earth.

Thinking about these things, I was moved to write this poem:

Sing the Earth

Stop debating.

Stop.

Listen.

Observe.

See and feel.

It is happening.

Deny, argue…whatever.

It isn’t coming.

It. Is. Here.

Now.

Extreme.

Melting.

Heat.

Cold.

Crashing.

Hurricanes.

Fires.

Flood.

Now…do you see?

Do you feel?

It is a shift.

The warnings? They are now.

Open your eyes.

Open.

Do.

Something.

What will your contribution be?

Call to Action: What will you do, today, to help the earth? What will you do, today, to inspire others to make a change?
