A Space for Writing

I want to write a novel. There, I’ve said it. It’s out in the world and not just in my heart or whispered to a few select friends and family.

I recently read something by Maya Angelou that said after feeling overwhelmed by life, she contemplated what would really make her happy and fulfilled. After much reflection, she wrote 1.) Be the best Mom to my children; 2.) Write.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

My feelings exactly, Maya.

Exactly!

I am a technical writer. So I do write daily. But I took that job to pay the bills. I was afraid that I couldn’t make money any other way, so I joined the corporate world and started creating technical manuals and specifications. I don’t have any complaints about my company. They let me mostly work from home, and I have a pretty flexible schedule to care for my child.

That’s not it.

I’m listening in quite spaces for what fills my soul; for what calls my soul to attention.

And I know that my space will be filled with writing. That is what my life calling for.
