A Space for Beauty

April is National Poetry month, so I’d like to share one of my own poems. It’s titled: A Rainbow in the Sky

Glorious moment, when color compliments the seemingly endless sky.

Color.

Beauty.

Grandeur.

A rainbow in the sky foretelling a silent beauty.

You must be looking, you must be observing to notice that silent and beautiful thing in the sky.

After the storm, beauty.

After the chaos, beauty.

A reminder of what is always pulsing through the universe.

If only we observe.

If only we look up from our life at the grandeur that is nature.

If only we set aside our smart phones and computers and tablets and instead, listen.

Stop.

Look.

Wonder.

I wonder, indeed, if such things are dying with technology….the dying of the light, the death of beauty, not because it’s fading, but because we have stopped looking, stopped wondering, stopped reaching our heads and hearts beyond what is…into what is possible.

The possibility of wonder and beauty.

Of color in the sky that tonight was not missed, but seen.

And beheld.

And felt.

In that moment…pure joy…pure color.
